multiple users to edit an issue in SPIT (Simple PHP Issue Tracker).. or
should I be using Synergy?

I really like this solution for issue tracking: http://spit-foss.org/
However, I am not able to get it to allow different users to edit the same
ticket (that is, Jim opens an issue ticket, and then Sue sets it to FIXED
after she fixes the bug).
I tried :
posting to the google group; and after posting somehow my detailed message
was lost ... so I don't want to try there again
adding the user+project to the members table (where user is a 2nd
non-author user) - but that didn't help
In searching on the google group, I heard mention of Synergy - but I could
not find any download links or the user guide that was discussed.
Alternatively, is it that I'm using the wrong platform and I should switch
to Synergy?
Long story short, what I've seen in SPIT would be ideal for my
requirements (saves $8/mo. on 16bugs) if I can figure out this last
detail.
Any suggestions/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
